In addition to impact assessment and biomonitoring, ESI’s laboratory analyzes zebra mussel (Dreissena polymorpha) samples for industrial monitoring programs and invertebrates for government monitoring programs.
Dreissena polymorpha Laboratory Analysis,
Muscatine Power and Water (1994 and 1995), Chemlink (1994 and 1995).
ESI analyzed zebra mussel samples (plankton tows, slides, bridal veil, scrub pads) for Muscatine Power's Mississippi River power plant, and for Chemlink, a company that specializes in zebra mussel control (Ohio River near Maysville, Kentucky and Mississippi River near Baton Rouge, Louisiana).
Benthic Macroinvertebrate Laboratory Identification,
ORSANCO, 1994.
Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation commission (ORSANCO), an interstate water pollution control commission, routinely monitors benthic macroinvertebrates throughout the Ohio River. ESI identified and enumerated Hester-Dendy samples collected in 1993 from the Dashields, New Cumberland, Hannibal, Gallipolis, Greenup, Meldahl, McAlpine, and Newburgh Pools.

Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, 1994, 1995, and 1996.
Illinois EPA monitors benthic invertebrates throughout Illinois. ESI identified and enumerated qualitative samples collected by IEPA in the Saline River basin (1994), and in Lake Michigan tributaries (1995 and 1996).
