Dive Coordinator/Supervisor

  • ADCI Commercial Diver Supervisor Certification
  • Current Physical (ADCI/Army Corps of Engineers criteria), First Aid, Oxygen, CPR certification
  • Prepare and enforce dive plans, activity hazard analysis, emergency management plans for projects per the ADCI/Army Corps of Engineers criteria
  • Ability to inspect, maintain and repair dive equipment, boats, trucks other field equipment.
  • Certified to inspect Kirby-Morgan hats (or willing to become certified).
  • Ability to record and track dive and maintenance logs.
  • Advanced boat operation and maintenance skills preferred.
  • Flexible schedule and willingness/ability to travel around the Midwestern U.S. for field studies.
  • Professionalism, positive attitude, and ability to work well with others.
  • Communication skills and interaction between management and clients.
  • Computer skills (Word, Excel, etc) are highly desirable.

Freshwater Mussel Biologist

St. Louis, MO Office (Fieldwork throughout Midwestern U.S.)  Start date: May 1 (estimate) 

Ecological Specialists, Inc. currently has an opening for a freshwater mussel biologist (permanent position) to assist with mussel sampling and data analysis in the Ohio River and Mississippi River basins.  Position may include fieldwork throughout the Midwest, proposal preparation, project management, supervision of field crews, equipment maintenance, data analysis, and report preparation.  


  • Masters degree in biology, aquatic ecology, fisheries, or related field or Bachelors degree and at least two years of field experience
  • Knowledge of Ohio and Mississippi River unionid fauna
  • Computer experience with spreadsheets, databases, word processing, graphics, statistics
  • Ability to prepare professional quality reports
  • Willingness to travel
